THE LAND

About this place ...

Sophie James Vineyards sits on the very top of Sonoma Mountain with its highest elevation at roughly 2,360 ft. The estate is perched on a plateau in the middle of rolling hills, with breathtaking panoramic views of the entire Bay Area. The estate has Pinot Noir vineyards, a small lake, ancient trees, and protected wildlife. Surrounded by thousands of acres of protected land, it is perfect for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, and special events. The parcel shares 70% of its property line with historical Jack London State Park in Glen Ellen, with private gate access. On a clear day you can see the Pacific Ocean, Mt. Tam, San Francisco, the Bay, Mt. Diablo, Sonoma Valley, Mt. St. Helena and even the foothills of the Sierra Nevada’s. Some of the Oak and Bay trees are well over 300 years old. County wildlife preservationists come to the property every few years to count the birds of prey. The two-acre lake is a haven to abundant wildlife, including 4 types of fish, turtles, thousands of Red-winged Blackbirds, Starlings and a Great Blue Heron. The Eastern part of the property is the mouth of the top of the Valley of the Moon, which is author Jack London's favorite place on Earth, after Yosemite. It also makes for a magical, stunning, and unparalleled places to spend your time.
